5. 강의 소개 :
Should the protection of free speech extend to hate speech and misinformation on social media? How are our personal data and digital footprints being collected, tracked, and (mis)used both online and offline? Will courts order Big Tech companies to divest from their monopolistic practices? Is artificial intelligence (AI) inherently less biased than humans—and if not, how can it be held accountable?
This course explores the evolving and complex governance landscape of digital platforms and artificial intelligence, focusing on their societal impacts in everyday life. Each session will engage with long-standing media policy issues that are increasingly complicated by emerging technologies. Topics include free speech and content moderation, data privacy, algorithmic discrimination, antitrust concerns, and the legal complexities of AI, particularly regarding liability and copyright. Through a review of scholarly literature from communication and related disciplines, along with real-world case studies across jurisdictions, students will critically examine contemporary challenges in platform and AI governance.
